Chapter 29. Upsizing a Desktop Applicati... > Preparing Your Desktop Database

Preparing Your Desktop Database

In this section, you’ll learn about the various types of changes you’ll need to make to successfully convert your application from a desktop database (.mdb) to a project file (.adp) connected to SQL Server. If you plan to use the Upsizing Wizard, you must make some of the changes before you attempt to run the wizard. You can delay other changes until after you’ve imported or upsized all your objects.

General Upsizing Considerations

By default, the Upsizing Wizard ignores any hidden objects in your database when it upsizes your database. If you’re using Import, you won’t see any hidden objects in the list of objects to import. If you want all your objects to be upsized, make sure they are not marked as hidden in your desktop database. To see all your hidden objects, you can choose Options from the Tools menu and select Hidden objects on the View tab.
