Deciding on a Strategy

Of course, the most work-intensive strategy is to simply start over and design your application from scratch using an Access project file connected to a new SQL Server database. Even if you choose this strategy, you still might want to start with the original table design from your desktop database, particularly if the design is sound.

You can also choose to create a new project file and SQL Server database, and then import all the tables, forms, reports, macros, and modules from your desktop application. Notice that I didn’t include queries in the list of objects—you’ll have to build those “by hand” because you cannot import queries from a desktop database into an Access project file.
