Chapter 27. Building Data Access Pages > Updating Data Access Page Links and Co...

Updating Data Access Page Links and Connections

As you know, a data access page is actually an .htm file, and Access stores a link to the page in your database. If you move the page to a new location, you won’t be able to open the page from the object link in your database. For example, you might not install the sample files in the same location that I used when I created the data access page samples. Or, if you copy your pages to a Web server, you’ll need to update the links from your database if you want to be able to edit the pages on the server.

The MSODSC object in each page has connection properties that tell it where to find your database. If you move your database, the page won’t work anymore. When you publish your pages on a Web server, you must set the connection properties so that the client Web browser or the server can find your database.
