Security for .Adp Files

To protect forms, reports, and so forth in Access projects, you must create an .ade file from the .adp file. The .ade file saves all objects without source code; in other words, the .ade file only saves the precompiled Access-internal displays of all objects.

Select Tools, then Database Utilities, then Make .ade File to create an .ade file. Be sure to retain the original .adp file because you cannot edit an .ade file and you cannot open forms and so on in the Design view. Note that with Microsoft Access 2002 you can create an .ade file only if the .adp file was saved in Access 2002 file format.
