Basics

The DAO object model is more complex than the ADO model. In addition to data access, DAO also enables users to administer, for example, users, user groups, and many other structures supported by Jet Engine. ADO, on the other hand, is purely a data access interface that provides only those objects directly required for accessing data. To administer users, user groups, and much more, you must either use the corresponding Transact-SQL commands or other programming interfaces, such as SQL-DMO. Table 17-1 compares the objects for the two data access interfaces.
