Chapter 10. Forms > Opening Forms with VBA

Opening Forms with VBA

There are two different procedures you can use to open forms from a Microsoft Visual Basic program: You can either use DoCmd.OpenForm or a form object. Generally, both procedures work with Access projects while providing the same options as Access mdb files. The one notable difference is that Access project forms (and reports) can be based on stored procedures as the record source.

You can assign a filter name or a WHERE clause as the parameter for the DoCmd object’s OpenForm method. Both the filter name and the WHERE clause limit the records the system displays in the form (or report). Both parameters are ineffective if a form or report is based on a stored procedure.
