Chapter 4. Databases > Creating a New Access Project

Creating a New Access Project

From the File menu, select New to create a new Access project. The new dialog box will open and offer you two options for creating a project: You can either create a new project with a connection to an already existing database, or you can create a new database for the new project.

Creating a New Access Project with a New Database

When you select Project (New Data) (or, in Microsoft Access 2000, select Project (New Database)), you must first name your new project before the system displays the database window. Next, the SQL Server Database Wizard opens, as shown in Figure 4-1, prompting you to specify on which SQL server to store the database. You are also prompted to enter the database name and the name of the user who wants to create the database. If SQL Server or MSDE is installed on the same computer as Access itself, you can also use (local) to specify the server name.
