Chapter 12. Connection Objects > Connection Strings

Connection Strings

A Connection object’s most important property is the ConnectionString. The property contains a character string with the description of the connection, called the connection string. The connection string consists of several key–value pair parts that contain the OLE DB provider name, the server name, the database name, and user information.

Assembling the Connection String

The connection string’s individual parts are separated by a semicolon and consist of a keyword followed by an equal sign and a value. Table 12-4 displays the most important keywords.
