Using File References

A file reference identifies a file that you will use. In its simplest form, it simply consists of a filename. However, you can add multiple files to a single file reference; FileMaker searches for each of them in order, and it uses the first one that it finds.

Creating a File Reference

In the Specify Table dialog that opens when you click the icon to add a table in the lower left of the Define Database dialog, choose Add File Reference as shown in Figure 14.9.
