Working with Repeating Fields

FileMaker provides the concept of repeating fields—fields that can contain more than one entry. The issue is germane at this point because a calculation can be a repeating field, and it can use a repeating field as one or more of its operands.

In the Specify Calculation dialog, shown previously in Figure 7.4, the number of repetitions can be specified in the center just below the calculation entry field. For fields that are not calculations, the repetitions are specified in the Options dialog, which you open from the Fields tab in the Define Database dialog. Figure 7.8 shows the Options dialog (note that the Field Options dialog shown in Figure 7.8 is similar to the Storage Options dialog shown in Figure 7.7).
