Summary

In this hour you were introduced to the power of XSLT, which can let you turn your XML exports into Web pages, RTF files, or any other type of document that you can define in XSLT. When you experiment with XSLT, you will find that it is a remarkably powerful tool that, with some practice, you can use to greatly extend FileMaker. (Note, too, that many people use XSLT for many purposes. You can create your FileMaker solutions and export an XML file so that someone with a knowledge of XSLT but not of FileMaker can carry on from there.)

Because you can use XSLT for formatting XML output as HTML, you can use it as the basis for an interactive Web site. This requires the use of FileMaker Server Advanced, discussed briefly in Appendix D, “Using FileMaker Server.”
