Turning Security On

To actually use the security that you've set up, you need to make two sets of adjustments: Verify the username that you (or others) will use to log in, and turn on the security at the database (not the user) side.

Verifying User ID

By default, FileMaker uses the current username in a login dialog. You should verify that each user's name is correct (whether it is a person's name or a title such as Receptionist). You do this in the general Preferences dialog; in Windows it is located on the Edit menu, and on Mac OS X it is on the FileMaker applications menu. The respective dialogs are shown in Figure 18.15 and Figure 18.16.
