Chapter 23. SQL Server and the Internet > Why This Chapter Is Important

Why This Chapter Is Important

SQL Server 2000 is closely integrated with the Internet. Using the Web Assistant Wizard, you can quickly and easily generate HTML documents from your SQL Server data. In fact, you can use the Web Assistant Wizard to generate triggers that automatically update HTML documents each time the table data changes. In addition to having the capability to publish SQL Server data as HTML, you can generate XML from SQL queries. These and other Web features included with SQL Server 2000 make SQL Server a key player in the Internet world.

You might wonder why I am covering these techniques in an Access 2002 enterprise-development book. The reason is that, as you've discovered throughout this text, most enterprise applications require that data be stored in a SQL Server database. As an Access client/server developer, you may want to take advantage of the rich integration that SQL Server has with the Web. This chapter focuses on the SQL Server tools that you can use to generate Web pages from your application data.
