Chapter 11. Developing an MDB Client/Ser... > Why This Chapter Is Important

Why This Chapter Is Important

Although in many cases the best solution for a client/server application is the Access Data Project (ADP) technology introduced with Access 2000, many successful client/server applications are running today as Access front ends linked to SQL Server back ends. I generally recommend that you do most new development in Access data projects. There are exceptions to this rule that involve difficulties in securing ADP applications (covered in Chapter 12, “Developing an ADP Application”). Because of the number of existing MDB (Jet database) applications and some of the security problems inherent in an ADP application, linked client/server applications are still a viable option today.
