Chapter 17. Access Replication Made Easy > Understanding Replication Topologies

Understanding Replication Topologies

The topology for data synchronization determines which replicas synchronize with each other. The topology is essentially a blueprint for how the changes are merged between the members of the replica set. Different topologies are used for different situations, and the topology that you choose is determined by your business needs and your organization's design. The synchronization topologies are star, ring, fully connected, linear, and hybrid. (See Figure 17.2.)
