Part: I THE ROOT OF POWER PROGRAMMING > WORKING WITH DATA ACCESS OBJECTS

Chapter 5. WORKING WITH DATA ACCESS OBJECTS

IN THIS CHAPTER

As mentioned in Chapter 3, “Making the Choice: MDB or ADP, DAO or ADO,” you now have the choice of two technologies for manipulating data in VBA. Both have extremely powerful programming models that let you control your database. The first technology, Data Access Objects, has been used for several versions of Access and is discussed in this chapter. The current version of DAO is 3.6, which indicates that a major upgrade hasn't taken place. Because Microsoft's aim is to get us to use ADO now instead of DAO, the company has chosen not to put the resources into revving DAO. However, DAO is very stable and will probably be used for many versions to come (at least for this one).
