Creating an .mde File

An .mde file is a database with its code stripped out, and no access to Design view. Users can enter, modify, or delete data, but they can't change the design of the database or its objects.

When your intended end users enter data into your database file, view information with a query you created, or print a report you designed, they don't need design access to the controls you used to create those objects. All they need is access to the data displayed in the controls. In fact, it's probably better that your end users don't have access to the Design views for your objects because the integrity of your database will be undermined.
