Using a Mac to Access ODBC Data

The Mac is definitely a second-class citizen in the FileMaker ODBC world, at least in version 7. Not only can't you use a Mac-based FileMaker file as an ODBC source, but the FileMaker version for the Mac OS does not preinstall any ODBC drivers. If you want to use your Mac to access SQL database data, you'll need to install and configure the ODBC drivers you need.
