Chapter 12. Importing Data > FileMaker, XML, and the Web

FileMaker, XML, and the Web

Although FileMaker can serve data to Web browsers using XML, this isn't necessarily the best way to put a FileMaker database on the Web. Major problems with browser compatibility, security, and performance remain that make XML unsuitable as a conduit for multiple desktop platforms. Unless you have some very specific reason to use XML to serve FileMaker data on the Web or your implementation is for an intranet where you can control your users' desktop OS and browsers, you would be well advised to stick to Instant Web Publishing.
