Chapter 13. Using Templates and Scripts > Working with Templates

Working with Templates

FileMaker comes with 21 templates–each with multiple layouts that run the gamut: contact management, expense reports, purchase orders, student records, to-do lists, recipes, etc.

To review the available templates:

1.
Choose File > New Database. When the New Database dialog box appears, click Template Info to see information about the available templates (Figure 13.1).

When the Template Information database’s main screen appears, all the available templates will be listed down the left side of the Template Information dialog. Click any item in the list and information on how to use that template will appear in the right side of the dialog box (Figure 13.2).

Once you find an appropriate template, click New Database (Figure 13.3). When FileMaker’s New Database dialog box reappears (Figure 13.1), see step 2 of To create a template-based file on the next page.
