Chapter 15. Web Publishing > Accessing a File with a Browser

Accessing a File with a Browser

Once you've set up Instant Web Publishing, your databases are available and accessible to anyone with Internet access. All that's necessary is a basic understanding of how to use a Web browser.

To access a database with a browser:

1.
In your Web browser's address box, type the IP address of the computer that is hosting the databases (Figure 15.10). Press Enter.

For this example, we are using an intranet with an IP address. If your database is published using a domain name, the user can enter the URL (e.g., http://domainname.com).

2.
The FileMaker home page will appear (Figure 15.11). Click on any of the links displayed to access a database (Figure 15.12).

3.
If the hosted databases are password-protected, you will be prompted for a user name and password (Figure 15.13).
