Chapter 17. Using FileMaker 5.5's New Features > Creating Interactive Buttons

Creating Interactive Buttons

When layout elements are formatted as buttons, it is not always obvious to users that a particular element is indeed a button. This problem arises frequently when you have formatted a field as a button. FileMaker 5.5 lets you provide a visual clue by turning the cursor into a hand icon when it rolls over a button.

To change a cursor to a hand icon:

1.
Choose View > Layout Mode.

2.
Click a button.

3.
Choose Format > Button.

4.
In the Specify Button dialog box, click Change to hand cursor over button (Figure 17.28).

5.
Click OK.

With the hand cursor option set, when the cursor is over the button in Browse mode, the arrow will change to a hand (Figure 17.29).
