Chapter 13. Multi-User Files on a Network > Setting Network Protocols

Setting Network Protocols

In order to share your database, you need to tell FileMaker what protocol your network uses. If you choose the wrong protocol you won't be able to access multi-user files or do any other network-related tasks with FileMaker. Check with your network administrator if you're not sure what protocol your network supports.

To set network protocols:

1.
Choose Edit > Preferences > Application to bring up the Application Preferences dialog box with the General tab displayed.

2.
Click the Network Protocol drop-down list and choose your protocol (Figure 13.1).

Figure 13.1. Set the network protocol by choosing it from the drop-down list.

3.
Click OK.

You must quit FileMaker and start it again for the change to take effect.
