Working with ODBC

FileMaker users with access to large corporate databases like Oracle can use ODBC to access data. ODBC is an application interface that gives all databases that support it a common “language” for record sharing; it is also the method for importing database information from Microsoft Access files. Before you can import, you must have the proper ODBC drivers installed on your computer. Because each database configuration is different, you should consult with the network manager to find out what you need and what resources are available.

Chapter 18 covers FM 5.5's ODBC enhancements.
