Working with Scripts

Creating a script is a lot like designing a database: The more you plan it out in advance, the smoother the actual construction will go.

Running a script simply triggers a series of automatic commands that you've strung together. A script can be a one-step task such as opening a record, or it can involve a cascade of actions that would take a person much longer to do manually. By automating certain tasks, scripts can reduce the chance of data-entry errors and ease the demands on those less comfortable with databases in general. To make scripts even easier to use, you can link them to buttons placed within different layouts (see Using Buttons with Scripts on page 216).
