Chapter 5. Working with Queries > Creating New Queries with a Wizard

Creating New Queries with a Wizard

You can create queries quickly and easily using the built-in Access wizards. The most basic query is a Select query, which plucks records from your tables—check out the sidebar on page 72 to find out about the other types of queries you can create with Access query wizards.

With query wizards you can create two different types of queries: detail queries, which show every field in the query results, and summary queries, which summarize one or more field values by taking the sum, average, maximum or minimum. Summary queries only work with numerical data.
