Chapter 4. Working with Forms > Deleting Records from Forms

Deleting Records from Forms

When you're browsing through your data using a form, you may come across individual records whose presence is no longer required. Perhaps the product has been discontinued, or maybe you lent that book to a friend who moved to Tierra del Fuego. In any event, you should delete the record.

To delete a record from a form:

1.
Display the record you want to delete in Form view.

or

If you opened your form in Datasheet view, click any cell in the record that you want to delete.

2.
Click the Delete Record button on the toolbar ( Figure 4.8 ).

Once you've deleted a record it's gone for good, so Access displays a dialog box asking you to confirm the action.

Tip

Unless you're absolutely sure you'll never need a record again, it's probably better to leave it in your database until you've backed up that table.
