Importing Data from Excel

In addition to working with data from other database programs, Access lets you import data from Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, and other spreadsheet packages.

Spreadsheets are like tables, though spreadsheet cells often contain formulas to calculate values based on other cells in the spreadsheet. Access doesn't import Excel formulas with the spreadsheet data, only the output of the formulas. While you can't calculate values within a table, you can create a query to reproduce the formula from the original Excel document (as you learned in Chapter 5).
