Chapter 15. Going Beyond the Basics > Making Your Database Run Faster

Making Your Database Run Faster

Creating databases with Access wizards generates speedy, highly efficient databases. If you create a custom database or add new objects to an existing one, it's possible to create an inefficient information flow in the database.

You can catch those inefficiencies (and get suggestions on how to eliminate them) by running Access's Performance Analyzer. The Performance Analyzer looks at the objects in your database and makes recommendations on how to improve each object's performance. It then generates three types of feedback on your database: Recom men da tions, Suggestions, and Ideas. The Perfor mance Analyzer can look at every object in your database and select specific object types (like tables, forms, or queries), or even choose which items of a type you want to analyze.
