Filtering by Exclusion

Filtering by exclusion is the opposite of filtering by selection (see the previous section). Rather than displaying records containing the value or values you selected, filtering by exclusion hides records with the values you've chosen.

For example, you might want to filter a table or query by exclusion if one client placed the majority of orders for a particular sales period. By excluding that client's orders from the active view of your table, you can see what other customers in that territory are ordering, how often they are ordering, and (by applying and removing the filter) compare their orders to those of the high-volume client.
