Part: 4 Tools of the Trade - Pg. 145

145 Part 4. Tools of the Trade If you need to get a nail into a wall, you'll probably reach for a hammer rather than a tire iron, toaster, or socket wrench. A jack is the tool of choice when you're changing a tire; cleavers work great to dice celery. Most tools are so simply labeled that there's no choice at all: Even I know that a screw- driver goes with screws, for instance. Life is not as simple for writers and their tools, however. Not only are there many different writing tools to choose from, but the ones you select can have a great influence on the quality and style of your writing. In addition to pens and computers, writers work with punctuation, capitalization, abbreviations, and spelling rules. That's what this part is all about.
