Identifying Current and Potential Funding Sources

In Tom Wolfe's novel, The Right Stuff, the refrain from NASA officials looking for government funding was “No bucks. No Buck Rogers.” Same goes for your business. Without access to funds or company resources, your business plan remains just that—a plan!

If you are in need of funding or resource support for your plan, you should have some idea of where you plan to raise the necessary capital or company resources to implement your business plan. You must identify your sources of funding and how you are going to go about attaining them. How do you intend to fund your business? Debt financing (borrowing money from individuals or a bank)? Equity financing (selling a percentage of your company to investors)? Or some combination, such as debt instruments converting to equity sometime in the future?
