Ensure that all users can access the information

The adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” does not take into account the many people who are visually impaired. For these users, a picture that is inadequately supported by text can leave a hole in their understanding of the information. Visual elements and techniques that enhance the information for a sighted user can actually impede a blind person's use of the same information.

An illustration or screen capture cannot be translated into Braille, so it is useless to a blind user. Therefore you must provide an explanation of the graphic, so that blind users can get the information through a screen reader.
