Editing and evaluating technical information

Conventional editing produces comments about the weaknesses in information. Using the quality characteristics, however, you can categorize both strengths and weaknesses. You can also see which quality characteristics of the information most need work and prioritize revisions. When you incorporate the quality characteristics into your editing, you probably need to modify your approach to editing.

Editors look at all aspects of the quality characteristics as they edit technical information. However, to verify the accuracy of the information, editors rely heavily on technical reviewers who are more familiar with the technical details.
