Chapter 9. Retrievability > Make linked-to information easy to find in the targ...

Make linked-to information easy to find in the target topic

To make your information retrievable, you need to consider the different ways that users might get to a topic, and anticipate what pieces of information they will be looking for when they find that topic.

For example, a user might get to a help topic from the index or the table of contents, by using the search function, by linking from another help topic, or from a context-sensitive link from the product. In a printed book, a user might get to a page from the index, the table of contents, or a cross-reference. In both cases, you need to make the linked-to subject stand out in the target topic.
