Keep elements short

Wordiness wastes reading time, space, and paper, and it sometimes buries the message. Writing concisely is especially necessary for information on the Web, where reading is 25% slower than for printed material.

As you saw in the section “Focus on the meaning” on page 105, extra words can get in the way, making users sort through the words to weed out the excess. This section presents more ways to get rid of extra words. To keep elements short, follow these guidelines:
