Chapter 26. Employment

This lesson concerns words related to employment that are common to most companies. Many businesses have a personnel department. A personnel or human resources department handles job searches, processes applications, conducts interviews, and manages employee benefits, such as vacation records, health insurance, and life insurance. Some human resources departments also arrange for employee training, or employee development. The terms presented in this lesson are ones that you will encounter in dealing with a human resources department, in looking for employment, and in reading job ads or company policy manuals.
