Chapter 24. Troublemakers 4 > Stationary, Stationery

Stationary, Stationery

The only difference in the spelling of these two words is the -ary and -ery endings. One of these terms refers to something that cannot be moved, something that is fixed in its location. The other means “paper for writing letters.”

  • The new company stationery has the company motto at the top.

  • Did you order enough stationery to answer all the customer letters?

  • The copying machine is on wheels; it is not stationary.

  • Attach the tub to the wall with bolts so that it is stationary.
