Eminent, Imminent

One of these terms means “high in station” or “famous,” while the other refers to something that is about to happen. Read the following examples and then answer the preview questions.

  • The author had waited for months; finally publication of his novel was imminent.

  • Change was imminent; everyone was prepared.
