Chapter 4. The Art of Facilitation > Other Techniques to Engage Your Audience

Other Techniques to Engage Your Audience

As you gain more experience you may decide to include some other techniques designed to get your audience to think. Such techniques include quotations, metaphors, analogies, anecdotes, and stories. As you practice using these literary forms of expression, keep in mind that your delivery is as much a factor in its effectiveness as what you say.

Quotations

Quotations from others strategically placed in the beginning, middle, or end of your presentation often have the effect of stimulating people’s thinking. When you use a quotation, always give attribution to the appropriate source.
