Chapter 5. Setting the Right Environment > It’s Always About You

It’s Always About You

To be successful you need to assume some responsibility for taking care of the details involved in your presentation. However, you don’t have to go it alone. It helps to have friends who can assist you with setting up the room, catering the food, providing the audiovisual equipment, and managing the facility. All these functions have an important role in making your presentation—and you—a success. Make a special effort to be respectful and courteous to people who can affect your success not only because it’s the professional thing to do, but because they have the potential to make or break your presentation just by the quality of services they provide.

Basic Rule 15

Taking care of the details before your presentation will give you the time to focus on giving your presentation and meeting your audience’s needs.
