Chapter 10. Getting Started with a Rough... > T-A-P Guidelines for Story Length

T-A-P Guidelines for Story Length

In drafting and telling your stories, tailor the length by using these T-A-P guidelines:

Time How much total talking time do you have? How important is your story to the whole of what you are saying? What percentage of the time should it take up?
Attention span How long can your audience sit still and listen? Think about where you are in the program. Do you need a little interaction in your story, to keep everyone’s attention? If so, factor that into the length.
Purpose What length best supports the purpose of your story? Too short and the story might seem inconsequential. Too long and people start to forget what it is all about.
