Chapter 22. Summary: Storytelling Builds Connections

The more comfortable you are telling your story, the more the audience can relax and listen. Find out what works for you. If you are nervous and you know people in the audience, ask them to really listen and pay attention to you. Then you will have encouraging faces to look at.

Experiment by adding in extras. If you are shy, start out slowly, with one easy prop or a little modulation. You will be surprised by how quickly your confidence will grow with practice. Let yourself have fun building the drama and play of the story. As long as you project competence and confidence, your audience will stay with you. The more you dare to add in flair, the more your stories will delight— and the more memorable you will be.
