Apostrophe (’)

An apostrophe is used to form the possessive of nouns and some pronouns and to mark the omission of a letter or letters in a contraction. In the contraction can’t, for example, the apostrophe replaces the omission of the letters no from cannot. An apostrophe is not used to make a singular noun plural.
