The Downside:

Promoters are always on the leading edge with new ideas, but they aren’t good at following through. They prefer to leave the grunt work to someone who enjoys that sort of thing. They tend to over-promise, which causes them to be late a lot. A promoter’s screensaver might read: “Deadlines amuse me.” Some people see promoters as superficial because they move so quickly from idea to idea, without following through. They also appear to be disorganized.

Tips for Better Listening:

If you have a promoting style, you have a strong personality. Toning down your style and forcefulness can make you less intimidating to others. You don’t do well at tolerating indirect communication, so be patient (this is important), and ask questions to understand the meaning.
