In a car

  1. Use the speed dialer, if possible. Every time you take your eyes off the road to push one button, you take a chance. Focus on safety first.

  2. If you have a passenger that can dial for you, all the better.

  3. While you’re driving, never use the phone to make any kind of sales presentation or deep negotiations. If you need to talk about something important, pull off the road, stop the car, and then have your conversation.

  4. Use of a hands-free or “cradle” speakerphone in the car is recommended. It lets you keep both hands on the wheel, where they should be. If you are in an accident, insurance companies are now asking if you were on the phone while you were driving. It’s senseless to try to get out of it, because the phone records can tell if you were or not.
