Attending Business Meals

The business meal, no longer limited to lunches, has become standard operating procedure in America. And you must be as sharp and professional at a meal function as you would be in the boardroom, maybe even more so. In the boardroom, at least, you don’t have to worry about which spoon to use!

There’s a story in the personnel field about a very successful business owner who always managed to hire top-notch, long-term managers. He once told an interviewer that before he would hire a manager to work for his company, he would invite that person to lunch. If a person salted the food before tasting it, he or she lost the job. “Lack of manners and stuck in a rut,” the owner said.
