Tip 39 In Impromptu Presentations, Answer Three Questions

An easy and effective way to deliver impromptus is simply to ask and then answer three questions about the topic you’ve been given. For example, suppose the boss suddenly turns to Carol at a meeting and says, “Please give us a report on what the indirect distribution department has been up to.” She doesn’t panic; she says, “Well, the three most important questions to ask about indirect distribution are, ‘What’s the overall plan?’ ‘What are the major steps in the plan?’ and ‘When will the plan be completed?’” Next, she simply goes back and fills in a reasonably detailed answer to each question. She sums up with, “That’s a quick look at indirect distribution.”
