Tip 44 Use Directory Visuals to Focus Your Audience

You arrive at the presentation 15 minutes late; you don’t even know what the talk is about. You slide into your seat and look up to see the speaker and two visuals: a flipchart and an overhead transparency like those shown.

What do you know now? The talk’s title is “The Wonders of Everyday Language.” The talk has three parts. We’re now in part 2, “Pronouncing Sentences,” and part 2 has three subsections. Because the presenter is pointing to the B on the overhead, he is now discussing “Articulating the Sounds.”
