Stage Two: Assess

In Stage 2, you ASSESS how the critical feedback was delivered, the intention of the critic, and how valid you believe the feedback to be. At this point you may want to ask yourself the five questions outlined in Chapter 11, to determine whether or not the feedback is valid. Watch, also, for the nonverbal behavior of your critic. You may be able to determine the intensity of his or her feelings and how open he or she will be to the action you decide to take.
